🔥 Wildfire Preparedness Guide
Protecting your home and family from wildfire threats.
Wildfires can spread at up to 14 mph, consuming everything in their path. Preparation and early evacuation save lives.
Creating Defensible Space
•Zone 1 (0-30 feet): Remove all dead vegetation, trim trees 10 feet from structures, remove branches within 6 feet of ground
•Zone 2 (30-100 feet): Space trees 10 feet apart, remove dead wood, mow grass to 4 inches
•Use fire-resistant building materials where possible
•Screen vents and seal gaps in roofs and walls
Before a Wildfire
•Create a 72-hour emergency kit
•Plan two evacuation routes from your area
•Register for local emergency notifications
•Keep important documents in a fireproof safe or offsite
During a Wildfire
•Evacuate early when told to do so
•Wear N95 masks to protect against smoke inhalation
•Close all windows and doors before leaving
•Leave lights on so firefighters can see your home in smoke
After a Wildfire
•Do not return until authorities say it is safe
•Watch for hot spots and flare-ups
•Document damage for insurance
•Be careful of weakened trees and structures
